Epstein Family Amphitheater Debut Events to Showcase Talent from UC San Diego and Beyond

Epstein Family AmphitheaterThe Epstein Family Amphitheater at UC San Diego debuted October 21, 2022, with performances from the San Diego Symphony, international musical talent, and UC San Diego Department of Music faculty, as well as hosting a Halloween-themed drag show and a Día de los Muertos celebration.

“UC San Diego has always been home to excellent education, leading-edge research, world-class health care, and trailblazing visual and performing arts,” shared Chancellor Pradeep K. Khosla. “The opening of the Epstein Family Amphitheater continues that tradition and heralds UC San Diego as the region’s newest premier arts and cultural destination.”

The recent debut of the amphitheater, which is located just steps from the Blue Line trolley station and seats about 2,500 guests, expands access to theatre, dance, music, and more for audiences throughout San Diego.

The amphitheater’s programming — as well as a lawn that serves as an ideal space to hang out — helps amplify the student experience. Daniel and Phyllis Epstein shared that they were drawn to support the development of the new space for this very reason.

“The fact that someone can step off the Blue Line trolley and be at the amphitheater speaks to opening the university to a much more expansive and inclusive set of people, which is exciting,” said Daniel Epstein. “I think it will provide extraordinary support, not only for the arts, but will integrate with all the students on campus,”
